Heidi Ingram is a technical writer and copy editor. Her work also includes many years of working with WordPress, usability design and GDPR compliance.

Heidi has a PhD (University of Nottingham, 1998) and Post-Doctoral research experience in Plant Science. Moving out of academia, she worked as a Technical Author for Agilent Technologies UK (now Keysight Technologies) where she developed user documentation, online help and training courses. She also carried out GUI usability testing of telecommunications testing equipment.

From 2008-2017 she was part-time business manager for an IT consultancy.  Since 2011, she has worked as a technical writer/editor and WordPress website manager.

Heidi excels in communicating technical information clearly and concisely. She has spent recent years creating successful digital communication channels for community groups, local businesses and individuals using websites and social media.

From 2012-16 she organised a Children’s Poetry Competition and edited and published a booklet of poems entered into the competition each year. In 2017 she edited and updated a local history book (available on the history page of the Garvald village website) to enable it to be digitally archived. In 2018 she worked with a number of local community groups to ensure their GDPR compliance.

Since 2018 Heidi has been a writer and editor for www.textileartist.org, combining her skills in technical writing with her passion for embroidery and textile art.

Heidi has gained experience in a range of software over the last twenty-five years, including Google Docs, WordPress, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, Quadralay WebWorks and eLearning applications including PlaceWare, Webex and PowerPoint. She also has knowledge of Adobe Photoshop Elements and basic HTML coding.
